Flash assist

Why it matters
Flashbangs are how teams take space safely. A well-thrown flash lets the entry fragger win a duel they would otherwise lose. Without flash assists, the work of the player who threw the flash would not show up anywhere.
Flash assists are a key stat for support players, who throw grenades for others during an execute or a retake.
Where it counts
- Stat sites track flash assists for each player and match.
- An assist, including a flash assist, counts toward KAST on most stat sites, so a support player who flashes well keeps a good KAST even with few kills.
- HLTV's Rating 3.0 gives credit for non-fragging plays like flash assists through round swing. See HLTV rating.
A flash that blinds teammates instead is called a team flash, and it is one of the most common mistakes in CS2.
