Rush

Rush

"Rush B" is one of the best known phrases in Counter-Strike. It started as a joke about players who rush B every round without a plan, especially on Dust2, but rushes are a real tactic in pro play too.

When a rush works:

  • The CTs are spread out, so only one or two defenders face five attackers.
  • The CTs are playing passively and do not expect it.
  • The Ts have grenades to cover the run.

The risks:

  • If the CTs stack the site, the Ts run into a wall of defenders.
  • A single molotov in a narrow path can stop the whole rush.

Pro teams mix rushes with slower rounds. A default gathers information first, and an execute is a planned attack later in the round. A rush is the fastest version of an execute.
