Default

What a default does:
- shows where the CTs are standing, for example by spotting who is missing from a usual position;
- takes map control, which makes the later attack safer;
- uses time, so the CTs cannot be sure where the attack will come.
After 40 to 60 seconds, the team picks a site and goes in with an execute. If the default finds a weak spot, the Ts can hit it fast.
A default is calmer than a rush and is common in pro play. Teams often keep one player as a lurker during the default to catch CTs who rotate.
The opposite is a fast or rush: all five players hit one site as quickly as possible.
