Flank

Flank

On the T side, a flank usually means one player, often the lurker, sneaks around the map while the team attacks elsewhere. When CTs rotate to help a bombsite, the lurker catches them from behind.

On the CT side, a flank means a defender moving through another route to hit the Ts from behind during an attack or after a plant. This is common during a retake.

Watching the flank: players often call "watch flank" to remind a teammate to look behind, so the team is not caught by surprise. Teams sometimes leave one player near the flank route during a default just for this.

A good flank needs timing: arrive too early and you fight alone, arrive too late and the round is already decided.
