Prefire

Prefire

Example: an entry clears a bombsite corner by shooting into it as they peek, because defenders often hide there.

Why it works: reaction time is the biggest limit in a duel. Prefiring removes it: the bullets are already flying as the player comes into view.

The risks:

  • If nobody is there, the shots waste ammunition and tell the enemy where you are.
  • Defenders who know the common spots can hide one step away from them.

Pros learn the common positions on every map, so they can prefire them while clearing a site. A related idea is the wallbang: shooting through a wall at a spot where an enemy is likely to stand.
