Lineup

Why lineups matter:
- A smoke a little to the left can leave a gap an AWPer shoots through. A lineup removes the guesswork.
- Many important grenades are thrown from far away or over walls, where you cannot see where they will land.
- An execute needs several grenades to land at the same time in the right places.
How players throw them:
- Standing throw: a normal left click.
- Jump throw: jump and throw at the same moment for extra distance. Since 2024, Valve's servers no longer allow a one-key bind for it, so players practice the timing.
- Run throw and short throw (right click) for other distances.
Pro players know hundreds of lineups across the seven maps in the pool, and teams update them when a map changes.
