Headshot percentage (HS%)

Why headshots matter
In CS2, a headshot does far more damage than a body shot. With the AK-47, one headshot kills an opponent even with a helmet. Other rifles, like the M4A4, cannot always kill a helmeted opponent with one headshot, but they still kill much faster through the head than through the body.
What is a good HS%?
It depends a lot on the player's role and weapons:
- Riflers in pro CS2 often sit around 45% to 60%.
- AWPers have a much lower HS%, because the AWP kills with one body shot and there is no reason to aim for the head.
- Players who get many kills with pistols on eco rounds often have a high HS%.
What HS% does not tell you
A high HS% shows good aim, but not impact. A player can have 70% headshots and still lose the important fights. That is why HS% is rarely used to judge pros on its own. K/D, ADR and KAST say more about how much a player helped the team.
