Cache in CS2: The Newest Active Duty Map

Cache at a glance

A short history

Cache was one of the most popular maps of the CS:GO era. Valve removed it from the competitive pool in March 2019, when Vertigo took its slot, and it later disappeared from the game entirely.

In 2025, FMPONE showed a major remake of the map. Valve acquired the rights to the new version and added it to CS2 in April 2026 for Competitive, Casual and Deathmatch. In June 2026 Valve announced that Cache would replace Overpass in the Active Duty pool once the Premier season ended, and the swap happened in July 2026.

Today we are excited to release de_cache:

Season Four of Premier ends on July 6th. You must have 25 Season Four Premier wins and a visible CSR when the Season concludes to earn your Premier Season Four medal. For the Season Five Active Duty map pool: - Overpass + Cache

The layout

Cache is a compact map built around three routes: A, mid and B. Mid connects to both bombsites, so the team that controls it can rotate quickly and threaten either site. Rounds on Cache tend to be fast, and mid control is the first fight in most rounds.

What Cache changes for pro teams

Every pool change resets part of the map veto. Teams that relied on Overpass lost a comfort map, and every team had to build Cache tactics from scratch. Expect Cache to be banned often by teams that have not prepared it yet, and picked by teams that adapted early.
