Anubis in CS2: Callouts, Layout and How Pros Play It

Anubis at a glance
- Created by: Roald van der Scheur, Jakuza and jd_40 (community map)
- Added to the game: March 2020
- Pool history: added November 2022, removed July 2025, returned January 2026
- Side lean: T-sided
- Known for: the water canal in mid, fast attacks, hard retakes
The layout
- A site sits to the left of CT spawn. Ts attack through A Main, or through mid and the Walkway to A Heaven, which looks down on the site.
- Mid is split by the Canal with water and the Bridge. Control here gives the Ts access to both connectors.
- B site sits to the right of CT spawn, around a pillar. Ts enter through B Main or B Connector (also called Secret).
What changed in January 2026
When Anubis came back, Valve changed parts of the layout:
- the bridge drop near Mid Doors was moved, and the Mid Doors were reversed;
- a new hole was added between E-box and the back of B;
- crates on A were moved up onto the Walkway, and a pillar on A got scaffolding.
The changes reshaped mid and B, but in pro data the map still favors the attackers.
Key callouts
| Area | Callouts |
|---|---|
| A site | A Main, A Heaven, Walkway, Plat, Gate, Box, A Connector |
| Mid | Mid, Mid Doors, Canal, Water, Bridge, Arches, Street, Window |
| B site | B Main, B Connector (Secret), Pillar, Ninja, Back site, B Plat |
| Spawns | T spawn, CT spawn |
How pros play Anubis
T side. The routes into both sites are short and the sites are hard to hold, so Ts often attack quickly. Taking mid and the water area lets them split either site through a connector. Once a bomb is planted, CTs find it hard to retake, which is a big part of why Anubis is T-sided.
CT side. CTs try to win early fights in mid and avoid giving up the connectors. Because retakes are difficult, teams often play the sites more passively and save weapons when a retake looks hopeless.
What to watch: the first mid fight. If the Ts take mid and the canal without losing a player, a fast site hit usually follows.
Anubis in the veto
Anubis has one of the lowest pick rates in pro play. Many teams ban it because it is unpredictable and has been out of the pool for months. Teams that have practiced the new version can use that as an advantage. On Anubis, a team usually wants to start on CT, so it finishes on the stronger T side. See CT Side vs T Side.
