Tier 1

- Tier 1 teams: the teams that regularly play, and win, the biggest tournaments.
- Tier 1 events: Majors and the other top international tournaments run by organizers like ESL, BLAST and PGL.
Below that, tier 2 means strong teams and events just under the top, and tier 3 covers smaller leagues, academies and regional events.
There is no single official list of tier 1, and Valve does not label events by tier. What Valve does publish is the Valve Regional Standings, which most big events use to invite teams.
On R1GG, tournaments carry a tier letter from our data provider:
| Tier | Roughly |
|---|---|
| S | Majors and the biggest international events (tier 1) |
| A | other big international events (tier 1 and strong tier 2) |
| B | tier 2 leagues and events |
| C, D | smaller leagues, qualifiers and regional events |
