Vertigo in CS2: Removed From the Map Pool

Vertigo at a glance
- First released: 2001, original Counter-Strike
- In CS:GO: added October 2012
- Pool history: added March 2019 (replacing Cache), removed January 2025 (for Train)
- Status: playable, not in Active Duty
What Vertigo was known for
Vertigo is set on an unfinished skyscraper under construction, high above the city. Its two bombsites are on different levels of the building, connected by ramps, elevators and scaffolding. The map was known for its fights on A ramp and in the narrow mid, and for the fact that falling off the edge means instant death.
Why it was removed
Vertigo spent more than five years in the pool, but it was never a favorite of pro teams and had one of the lowest pick rates. Valve replaced it with Train ahead of the BLAST.tv Austin Major in 2025.
There is a small irony in Vertigo's story: it entered the pool in 2019 by replacing Cache, and in July 2026 Cache came back to the pool itself.
Could it come back?
Valve has not announced any plans. The current maps are listed in the CS2 Map Pool guide.
