Why teams play a bonus

The team keeps its credits for a strong full buy in the next round.
If the bonus round is won, it is a free round on top.
If it is lost, the team still has credits to buy properly.

The risk

The other team is usually on a full buy by then. If it wins the bonus round, it picks up weapons and gains momentum. Some teams skip the bonus and buy rifles straight away.
